Shitake (Lentinula edodes) cultivation using these kits is used in commercial mushroom growing facilities thorough the world. For outdoor shitake cultivation log cultivation technique is more appropriate, although logs are less sensitive to environmental factors.
Kits contain a woody mixture (substrate) overgrown with shitake mycelia and are ready to be used.

After removing the bag kit needs to be placed under a plastic tent (Picture 3) and watered/misted regularly. Also other humid places can be used for shitake cultivation.

The most commonly used cultivation methods are small home made tents with moist sand bottom (picture 3) or buckets with moist sand on the bottom, covered with foil (picture 4).
